NAS Jacksonville 2013 Air Show cancelled
NAS Jacksonville has canceled the 2013 Air Show scheduled for Oct. 26-27. Recognizing budget realities, current Department of Defense policy states that outreach events can only be supported with local assets at no cost to the government. This is one of many steps the Navy is taking to ensure resources are in place to support forces operating forward now and those training to relieve them.
NAS Jacksonville Commanding Officer Capt. Bob Sanders said, “This is a very tough decision because the people of Jacksonville love their Navy and we sincerely appreciate their support. Our air shows are a way to say thank you. But our decision came down to priorities which are operational readiness and supporting the warfighter.”
