Dixie Annex is a hunting ranch located 90 miles from Kingsville, Texas and is managed by the Air Operations Department of Naval Air Station Kingsville. The annex has a cookhouse, and nearly 6,800 acres of prime Texas hunting land. Our year round wildlife management program is designed to make your stay an enjoyable one.

Directions: 2.5 hours west of Corpus Christi. Located in the Southwest corner of McMullen County Texas, 25 mile outside of Freer, TX. Take US 59 and SH44 South from Freer. 3.2 miles south of Freer turn right of the SH44 West towards Enicanal. Travel 8.5 miles until you see Duval county road 401. Turn right on Duval cr401. Travel down 401 for 13. miles, this road dead ends at the ranch. There is only one fork in this road, stay on the right

Road Conditions: The last 13 miles to the ranch is caliche road. In inclement weather please call the ranch before leaving home so that the staff can advise you of road conditions.

ATV and Horse Owners: Please call the Ranch Staff in advance for restrictions and fees.

The Ranch offers year round hunting. To find out what game is in season call the Texas Parks and Wildlife Office regarding hunting in McMullen County at 1-800-792-1112. Aggressive conservation programs have increased the abundance of wildlife on the Ranch. Over 75 different types of birds can be seen.Hog, javelina, bird and deer hunting are very popular. Deer hunting is conducted on a drawing basis. Call Outdoor Recreation at (361)516-6191 for more information on the drawing process.

Fish the Nueces River! All Anglers are required to comply with Texas State Fishing Regulations.

You don't have to be a hunter or fisherman to enjoy the ranch. There many other opportunities to enjoy the outdoors: archery, hiking, fishing, relaxing, wildlife photography, bird watching, or watching a sunset without obstruction or interference. The annex may be reserved for special functions such as squadrons, divisional, departmental parties, or group outings.
